This service is to help people and small business owners who need to have a business plan written for their business. Regardless if it's an idea or already in operation, having a business plan helps you define your objectives, determine your priorities, and understand how things relate to one another.
Quick background: I have extensive experience writing, proofreading, and editing business plans from start to finish. I hold an MBA in Finance, as well as undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Political Science.
The following lists how I typically write business plans for others:
Executive Summary - This section is a sort of condensed summary of the following 5 sections. It provides a basic overview of the business, any competitive advantages it may have, and its product/service. Typically 1-2 pages.
Company Information - In this section I provide more information on the business: what type it is, what it's product/service is, any licenses/insurance/regulations that must be adhered to, any possible legal liability issues, where it was incorporated(and how), as well as any significant milestones. Typically 2-3 pages.
Market Analysis - This section is primarily research: I discuss the attractiveness of the specific market the business is going to target, as well as the industry environment in which it will operate (this includes competitors). More extensively, this includes the size of the industry and market, traits of the market, the barriers to entry, any influential trends/factors. This is typically 3-5 pages.
Marketing/Sales - This section entails more in-depth the strategy of how the business will reach customers. Go over advertising tactics, channels/platforms to reach people, how payment is processed, pricing system, brand differentiation, and the sales/marketing budget. Typically 2-4 pages.
Operations - In this section, I typically go over the team/management, business processes (including how a product/service is made), the location of the business, any supplies needed, legal/insurance, any equipment required, and the hours of operation. In this section I go more in depth on the product/service description. This can be 1-5 pages, depending on the business idea.
Financial Projections - How long this section is depends on each specific business. Normally, in this section I provide basic assumptions and a sales forecast that will be used to create a profit/loss and a balance sheet. This section can be as long as people need it to be. Normally 1+ pages.
I've attached a file with questions for writing a business plan for brainstorming, but at a minimum I need the answers to the following:
1. What is your business idea?
2. Where will it be located and who is the owner/management team?
3. What is the full description of your product/service?
4. Who is your target market?
5. Anything else I should know?
The more info the better :-)
